Martha's Vineyard

Martha’s Vineyard: Find Your Fancy

Only seven miles off the coast of the Massachusetts coast, Martha’ Vineyard offers a vacation ambiance unlike any other.

The heart and soul of this maritime island community is its beauty, its timelessness, its natural history and its people. The leisurely ferry ride from the mainland prepares you for the wonderful change of pace you will experience on island. Once you arrive, the warm water, magnificent beaches and almost endless stretches of moor and forest will complete the transformation.

Martha’s Vineyard’s history has been formed by the native Wampanoag, immigrants like Bartholomew Gosnold, a British citizen who founded Martha’s Vineyard in 1602 as well as others from England, Cape Verdes islands, people of color, farmers and fishermen, blacksmiths and merchants. Here, you will learn their stories, and come to know the island.

As you explore Martha’s Vineyard, please visit the five historic lighthouses that grace our landscape, from the clay cliffs at Gay Head in Aquinnah, to the slopes of Cape Pogue on Chappaquiddick. Miles of cycling and walking trails allow visitors to explore our natural beauty, while towns beckon visitors to explore attractions like the Whaling Church, the Flying Horses Carousel, the gingerbread houses and more than 50 art galleries.

Fine dining is available throughout the island, with each season showcasing delicacies from our shores. One of a kind, specialty boutiques provide perfect gifts and souvenirs of your journey. Explore, discover, and savor this magical place, the Island of Martha’s Vineyard.
